The advent of process computers meant that algorithms that could not be realized using analog technology could now be applied PID controller, advanced control schemes, soft computing methods and optimal control philosophies became practicable alternatives. Indeed, the modern day proliferation of so called advanced control methodologies can only be attributed to the advances made in the process industry, especially in the development of low cost digital computational devices. Nowadays, advanced control is synonymous with the implementation of computer based technologies. It has been recently reported that advanced control techniques can improve product yield, reduce energy consumption, increase capacity, improve product quality andconsistency, improved process safety and reduce environmental emissions. This seminar is intended to provide a forumfor the cross‐fertilisation of ideas and experiences across industrial sectors. This could be a particularls rewarding event for Engineers/Research scholars/ Engineering UG/PG students considering theimplementation of advanced control.

Topics covered in this programme are as follows:

 • Introduction to controllers

 • PID controller design challenges and issues

 • Advanced control schemes
 • Soft computing methods for control  applications
 • Recent control techniques for industrial applications

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

UG, PG students, Research scholars, Faculty members, Engineers and Supervisors working in process industries can apply.
